Lap Dances, VIP Rooms and Private Suites: How It Actually Works

October 14, 2026 • 6 min read

Most first-timers have the same unspoken question: what exactly happens in "VIP", what does it cost, and how do you ask without looking like you have never done this before? Here is the whole thing, plainly.

The Three Things People Mean by "a Dance"

1. The Stage

This is the free part. Entertainers rotate on the main stage all night. You sit at the rail or in the lounge seating, you tip in cash when someone earns it, and that is the entire transaction. Nobody is going to pressure you off the stage and into a room.

2. A Private Dance (the Lap Dance)

A dance performed for you, one on one, usually in a designated dance area just off the main floor. It lasts one song. It is arranged directly with the entertainer, and it is priced per song. The price is stated before the first beat. If a club will not tell you the price up front, that is your cue to leave.

The rules are set by the entertainer, every time, and enforced by staff. Keep your hands where she puts them. That is the entire etiquette. Our etiquette guide covers the finer points.

3. The VIP Room

A separate space away from the floor. Dances here are longer and more private, and they are usually sold in blocks of time (fifteen minutes, half an hour, an hour) rather than one song at a time. A VIP room typically includes a seat, a server, and the option of bottle service, so it becomes the base for the whole night rather than a five-minute detour.

How Capital Cabaret Is Laid Out

We have three tiers, and they are genuinely different rooms, not three names for the same couch:

  • VIP Lounge. Reserved seating for groups of four to eight, a dedicated server, bottle service, priority entry. Semi-private: you are still part of the room.
  • Private Suite. A fully enclosed room with its own door, a dedicated VIP host all night, in-suite bottle service and private entertainment. This is the one bachelor parties and birthdays book.
  • Upstairs VIP Area. A spacious upper-level lounge above the main floor with its own plush seating and full bar access. Good for larger groups that want to see the room without being in the middle of it.

All three are on the VIP page, and the private suite is the one pictured there, green velvet and all.

How to Ask About Pricing

Just ask. "What are dances tonight?" to an entertainer, or "What does the suite run?" to your server or the host at the door. Nobody will blink. Prices move with the night of the week and the event, which is why they are not printed on the website, and why a straight answer is the sign of a good club.

Three things to confirm before you commit to a room:

  1. The room rate and what time block it covers.
  2. Whether a bottle is included or separate, and what the bottle menu looks like.
  3. How dances inside the room are priced, per song or per block.

What a Good Night Looks Like

Dinner from 747 Chop House at a floor table while the stage warms up. A couple of dances once someone catches your eye. Then, if it is a celebration, the private suite with a bottle pre-set, a host keeping the glasses full, and a door that closes. The whole arc happens under one roof, five minutes from RDU, and ends in a free, well-lit parking lot.

Quick Answers

What is a lap dance?

A private dance performed for one guest, usually seated, for the length of one song. It is arranged directly with the entertainer, priced per song, and the price is stated before it starts. Entertainers set the rules for every dance and staff enforce them.

What is the VIP room at a strip club?

A separate area away from the main floor where dances are longer and more private, often sold in blocks of time rather than single songs. At Capital Cabaret there are three tiers: a VIP lounge for groups, fully enclosed private suites with a dedicated host, and an upstairs VIP area.

How much does a lap dance cost?

It varies by club and by whether you are on the floor or in a private room. Ask the entertainer or your server for the current rate before anything starts; a reputable club always tells you the price up front. For a whole night budget, see our VIP night cost guide.

Can you reserve a private suite ahead of time?

Yes. Private suites at Capital Cabaret are reserved by calling (984) 382-0485, and come with a dedicated VIP host and in-suite bottle service. Walk-in availability depends on the night.
