The Gentleman's Guide to Strip Club Etiquette

January 15, 2025 • 6 min read

Whether it's your first time or your fiftieth, there's an unwritten code of conduct at gentleman's clubs that separates the guys who have a great time from the guys who... don't.

Dress the Part

You don't need a three-piece suit, but shorts and flip-flops aren't going to cut it at an upscale venue. Business casual is your safe bet: nice jeans or slacks, a button-down or polo, clean shoes.

Here's the thing—when you look good, you feel confident. And confidence is everything in this environment.

Cash is King

Most clubs take cards, but cash makes everything smoother. Hit the ATM before you arrive (those in-club ATM fees are brutal). How much? Depends on your plans, but $200-300 for a regular night, more for VIP.

Tip Appropriately

The performers are working. Tip them.

  • Stage performances: $1-5 per song, more if she comes to your area
  • Table visits: $5-20 for conversation time
  • Private dances: Standard price plus 20% tip
  • Waitresses/bartenders: Same as any other venue (18-20%)

Generosity gets noticed. The staff remembers good tippers and treats them accordingly.

Respect Boundaries

This is the big one. Look, don't touch unless invited. Every club has rules, and every performer has her own boundaries. Pay attention to both.

When in doubt? Ask. "Is this okay?" goes a long way.

Don't Be "That Guy"

You know the guy—too drunk, too loud, too handsy, too cheap. Don't be him.

  • Pace yourself on drinks
  • Keep your voice at a reasonable level
  • Remember you're a guest in someone's workplace
  • Leave your ego at the door

Engage Like a Human

The performers are people with lives, interests, and personalities. Have actual conversations. Ask about her night, share a laugh, be genuine. The guys who treat dancers like humans consistently have better experiences.

Know When to Leave

All good things end. Don't be the guy who has to be asked to leave at closing time. Head out while you're still having fun—it keeps the night's memory positive.
